Designs to Leave Behind

If you are lucky enough to be planning a redecoration in 2009, or simply wondering what to reduce, what to reuse and what to recycle in terms of your home decor, here is a glamorous trend which is on its way out this year.
In the same way the stars toned down their frocks and bling on their red carpet appearances during awards season, so too is it time to tone down the glitz and ritz in your home. If you embraced the over the top luxury look in your home and filled the space with black and chrome surfaces and gilded lamps and intricately ornate mirrors then you may want to pack some of this bling away.
This goes for the chandeliers you may have put in every room of your house too, especially if they are of the mass produced plastic variety. You may also want to replace the metallic wallpaper, but luckily wallpaper is much easier to remove than it used to be. In 2009 it is also tipped to be the end of the swirling and curling baroque motifs which found their way onto plates and throw cushions and everything in between.
Now we’re not suggesting that you discard all of your glamorous decorating accessories, simply that now is the time for restraint and understated class, so perhaps go for a smattering of this style, rather than a complete wave.
